Child day-care or special education
Children who live on the Kempenhaeghe grounds attend De Berkenschutse, the special education school of Kempenhaeghe, or child day center De Boom.
Children who are able to go to school, receive education for children with (serious) learning disabilities at De Berkenschutse. When this is not possible because of multiple complex disabilities, they can attend child day center De Boom. Here, attention is given to the social and emotional development, sensory development, communication capabilities and motor function of children with a very low development level.
Sheltered housing and activity supervisors integrate their support and are both part of the child’s care team. For each child, activities such as music, snuggling, sensory stimulation, a type of motion and communication games are tailored to the need for safety and structure on the one side, and challenges on the other side.
