Blood tests
Most patients at Kempenhaeghe get blood tests aimed at checking medication levels. Sometimes blood tests are required for diagnostics.
The concentration of medication in the blood tells us something about the effectivity of the medication. Every person needs an amount of medication that is tailored to his or her needs. The combination with other medication may influence the blood level. For most patients a too low blood level means the medication is insufficiently effective, while a too high blood level could generate side effects.
Your doctor may explain the reasons for blood testing in your situation, if so required. In Heeze you may go to our own Kempenhaeghe laboratory for blood tests; in Oosterhout blood tests are done in the neighboring Amphia hospital.
