National partnerships
The Academic Center for Epileptology is leading in national partnerships in the field of specialized treatment methods such as epilepsy surgery, nervus vagus stimulation and ketogenic diet. There is an intensive alliance with UMC Utrecht in the field of epilepsy surgery in children.
Dutch Epilepsy Network
We are engaged in promoting the exchange of know-how between hospitals and specialized epilepsy care. This is done by way of consultancies and via epilepsy outpatient clinics in hospitals. The newly founded Dutch Epilepsy Network will provide an extra impulse to these initiatives.
Developing joint quality standards
In cooperation with peer organization SEIN and patient representatives we investigate how to further improve the quality of life of people with complex epilepsy. With the patient as a starting point we have developed quality standards for long-term epilepsy care, allowing us to better organize the care and align it to the needs of the patient and his/her environment.
Partnering up with patient organizations
We value our ties with the Epilepsy Fund, the Dutch Epilepsy Association (EVN) and the smaller associations such as the ZIE Foundation and the Dravet Syndrome Foundation. We are happy to contribute our part to (joint) patient days and information meetings.
